Tumblr is a microblogging platform and social media network. Users can set up a profile and build a blog containing text, pictures, videos and gifs. Blogs can be set to public or private, and users are encouraged to follow other users’ blogs. Tumblr prohibits content that is hateful or violent, harmful to minors, promotes violence or self-harm, or depicts gore or mutilation. Nudity and sexually suggestive content is permitted, but, as of July 2013, may not appear in search results.

The stated age limit for Tumblr is 13 years old, although the site may not enforce the age limit. Especially with younger users, we recommend that user profiles are set to private, and that teens do not post personal details, including location.
